Working with sheet metal

Cutting to size

Clamp the sheet to be cut between two wooden panels similar to a 'sandwich' (e.g. number 13 and number 16 particle board). This is an extremely effective reliable way to prevent flutter, twisting, and scratching the sheet. In addition the possibility of the saw blade skipping and tilting is excluded due to the large saw blade guide between the two boards. We recommend a low stroke rate without pendulum stroke, this means that almost all standard saw blades are suitable.

Place the particle board on two supports and apply the double coated adhesive tape. Prior to this, sweep the plywood free of dust with a whisk broom so that the double-sided adhesive tape holds better.
Sensitive sheets are packaged in protective foil. Tape the sheet with its protective foil onto the wood panel. This provides optimum protection against scratches, and it can be easily removed from the particle board after processing.
Place two pieces of particle board flush on the sheet. Then you can draw highly visible circles, straight or curved intersecting lines on the particle board, without leaving disturbing marks on your sheet.
Now fasten the two wooden boards together with countersunk screws. In this process you can also drill through a part of the sheet that will not be needed, fix with screws, and thus make it impossible for the sheet to slip.
Now saw out the form you desire with the compass saw. At this stage we recommend working at a low stroke rate without pendulum stroke. Here you see a circular surface that is absolutely round and unscratched from the round studded sheet, which is not particularly the easiest sheet to process. Even in the stud area the compass saw blade did not run out of the cutting line due to the particle board guide.
For straight cuts you can use an aluminium angle as stop, which enables a super-straight cut. According to the instructions above, even our strongest steel extended metal or steel perforated sheet can be sawn effortlessly and you always obtain a perfect cut.

Tipp:

You can use your particle board several times over.
