Laying tiles

Standard profiles with alfer®-fix universal hole pattern

The standard profile is the most basic edge protection for tile floorings, providing effective protection against damage to tile edges due to irregular angles. Unglazed tile edges, e.g. on cheap tiles or cut edges, should be protected against mechanical loads. Of course tile edgings also add to the looks of such edges. Furthermore, tile edgings make installation easier. They provide straight lines when starting and finishing tiling work and joints to other floor coverings, plaster or wallpaper, individually shaped doormats, and lots more. If standard profiles are used to finish a parquet floor, the profiles can be ground down together with the parquet.

Rounded end profiles with alfer®-fix universal hole pattern

Whereas ceramic surfaces used to be applied somewhat inconspicuously, now they are used as a designer feature in rooms. New plumbing and front-wall installations offer design options with tiled shelves, corners, and dividing walls.
Depending on personal taste, rounded end profiles can be added to give a harmonious or contrasting look to a room’s coloring and styling.
The rounded section of the profile can be used in different ways, which means you can choose between accentuated or flat rounded sections depending on the position of the fitting section.

Tile corners

Using the plastic tile corners, it is possible to create a clean, attractive-looking, and uniform external corner with two or three round end profiles meeting at right angles. The profiles do not need miter cuts.

Quarter round profiles with alfer®-fix universal hole pattern

Quarter round profiles are suitable for external corners on tiled floors and provide effective protection for tile edges. The profiles are symmetrical and as a result always give the same optical effect.
As the profiles are enclosed, they are more stable and can be grouted more easily.
The quarter round profiles not only look good, they are also technically advanced, e.g. the lugs at the end of the quarter circle: these act as a relief cut and effectively prevent the grout from seeping out.
If you want to use a quarter round profile on the external corner of a wall, first of all you tile one wall and then apply adhesive to the corner of the other wall. You then press the profile into the adhesive and align it properly. You can now apply adhesive to the whole area and press on and align the remaining tiles.

Quarter round external and internal tile corners

Using the plastic quarter round external and internal tile corners, it is possible to create a clean, attractive-looking, and uniform external corner with two or three rounded end profiles meeting at right angles. The profiles do not need miter cuts.
